“If only there could be an invention that bottled up
a memory, like scent. And it never faded, and it
never got stale. And then, when one wanted it, the
bottle could be uncorked, and it would be like living
the moment all over again.”
from Daphne du Maurier’s <Rebecca>

Kinfolk Notes is the new Slow Luxury Beauty brand, presented to you by the editors and creative team of Kinfolk Magazine.

Slow Life Magazine & Community

Started in Portland in 2011

<Kinfolk> magazine was first published as a ‘guidebook for slow life’ in Portland, Oregon, in 2011 by two college couples who sought to share food, conversations with family and friends, and lead a life with intention everyday.

By telling stories of people living a slow life through writings and photography, Kinfolk has expanded its themes beyond food and conversation to encompass design, space, fashion, travel, and culture. Today, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, Kinfolk has firmly established itself as a global icon of lifestyle for the millennial generation around the world, and it continues to expand its community, cultivating a true lifestyle brand and platform dedicated to slow living and essentialism.

<Slow Luxury>

A new concept of luxury

How does the concept of luxury intersect with the simplicity of a slow life?

Kinfolk believes that embracing a slow life is a mindset—a gateway to a value-driven existence that transcends external ephemerality. In this realm, meaning and value evolve with each mindful action, nurturing a conscious, purpose-led life. It emanates from a more deliberate, unhurried approach to aspects of everyday life, where appreciation and contemplation of life’s purpose take center stage. This mindfulness is the slowness pursued by Kinfolk. It is where we find true extravagance, a celebration of the inner self that holds the essence of rarity amidst the modern rush.

Kinfolk believes that a slow life is an inner attitude toward life that goes beyond mere outward appearances. The meaning and value of actions and objects transform in accordance with intention. This true meaning and purpose emerges from the mindfulness that allows you to savor and contemplate. It is these mindful moments that Kinfolk cherishes—the embodiment of slowness that we hold dear. This form of slowness represents true inner luxury, the rarest and most precious gem within modern society.

A time to look back on your daily life, to design it with intention, at your own unhurried pace.
This is what Kinfolk passionately pursues in the realms of slow luxury and slow beauty.
